'Give Me All Your Luvin' collaborators Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. might join halftime show, Queen of Pop tells MTV News.
By Jocelyn Vena
<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/madonna/artist.jhtml">Madonna</a> is nearing both the release of her <a href="/news/articles/1675587/nicki-minaj-madonna-give-me-all-your-love.jhtml">"Give Me All Your Luvin"</a> music video, as well as her highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance. And it seems that these two milestones will have a few things in common. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:727958" width="240" height="211"></div><p> First off, there's a good chance <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/mia__4_/artist.jhtml">M.I.A.</a> will not only play parts in the video for the first single off Madge's <a href="/news/articles/1677103/madonna-album-mdna.jhtml"><i>M.D.N.A.</i></a> release, dropping later this year, but as heavily speculated, they might take the stage with the Queen of Pop during the February 5 halftime show. In true Madonna fashion, when MTV News caught up with her at the <a href="/news/articles/1677811/madonna-we-cast-favorite-songs.jhtml">New York premiere</a> of her film, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/480767/moviemain.jhtml">"W.E.,"</a> she played it cool regarding rumors about the performance. Asked whether the ladies will join her at the Super Bowl, she coyly responded, "I am not saying 'Yes,' and I am not saying 'No.' " The only tease she wanted to give was, "Pom poms. That's all I can tell you." When Madonna takes the halftime stage next month, her performance will be "imagined" by Cirque du Soleil and Madonna's longtime choreographer and creative director Jamie King. According to reports, the set list for the show will include "Luvin" as well as the Madonna classics "Ray of Light," Vogue" and "Music." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:727626" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Of course, fans won't find the theme a far stretch for the Michigan native, who was a cheerleader back in her high school days. "I have eight minutes to set up my stage, 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on earth, and I have seven minutes to take it down so that football field is clean for the second half of the game," she told <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertainment/2012/01/madonnas-super-bowl-anxiety" target="_blank">ABC News</a> about the performance. "That's the challenge. How do you do that? I actually wanted to have 100 drummers come from the ceiling, a drumline from the ceiling." So, what else will the Super Bowl show and her Megaforce-directed clip have in common? Madge simply told us, laughing, "Pom poms." The video was shot in December with both Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. on set. The already buzzed-about shoot made headlines after Minaj tweeted that the icon had kissed her.</p>

'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Larry Carroll
<P>You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin. In early February, reports began circulating that <a href="/news/articles/1631297/mary-j-blige-records-led-zeppelins-stairway-to-heaven.jhtml">Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven,"</a> working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her <i>Stronger With Each Tear</i> album, due Monday. </p><div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float:left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:491065" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D491065" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div><p> But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering <i>another</i> Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the <i>Essence</i> Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine. "I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun." Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon. "I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.</p>

Is John Blake the next Dark Knight, Robin or someone else entirely? We discuss in The Weekly Rising.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Joseph Gordon-Levitt films a scene of "Dark Knight Rises"

Who the hell is John Blake?
It was the question most of us asked when Joseph Gordon-Levitt joined the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises" last year. The little bit Warner Bros. told us labeled Blake as "a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon." It's not exactly the kind of character description you'd expect from such a big-name actor in one of Christopher Nolan's Batman films.
Such a nondescript character begs the question: Who is he really? We did the same last week with Marion Cotillard's Miranda Tate, and this week, we're taking a deep dive into just who this mysterious man in blue might be.
A short while after Warner Bros. revealed John Blake as a character in "The Dark Knight Rises," hard-core comic book nerds did their due diligence and found the one trace of the name that dates all the way back to 1942. Little Johnny Blake appears in an issue of "Batman," where Joker goes around making the people of Gotham cry, one citizen at a time. Poor Johnny Blake had just received a great report card, but the Joker comes along and snatches it. Now Dad will never believe him!
If we're going to speculate, it's safe to assume that Nolan won't surprise everyone with a gritty, realistic take on the whole "stolen report card" story line. There's no hard evidence other than the shared named that Gordon-Levitt's John Blake has anything to do with the unfortunate, terrorized little boy from the comics.
With the source material more or less a dead end, that leaves the vague official character description and two of the Internet's favorite theories. One posits that Blake will be a much more rugged Robin. Another hypothesizes that he will don the Batman cowl after Bruce Wayne dies or retires.
Fans have been quick to cry "Robin!" since "Batman Begins." (What's the Dark Knight without his young ward, after all?) But there is nothing that Nolan has been as adamant about as his conviction to never feature the Boy Wonder in his Batman films. Yet, Robin champions abide, even finding false clues of his presence in the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer. Nolan said he won't include Robin, so there's little reason to suspect him of doing anything else.
More daring theorists guess that Blake will go through the majority of the movie as the beat cop he's described to be but eventually become the new Batman once Wayne is out of the picture, either due to injury or — gulp — death. Supporters of this theory point to Bane's legacy of destroying Batman and Wayne's use of a cane in the trailer.
I find myself not only favoring the second theory, but actively hoping that it comes to fruition. So much of the lead-up to the film has centered on the idea of "the legend." Ra's Al Ghul speaks in the trailer about Wayne becoming more than a man. "The Legend Ends" even adorns the most recent poster, yet the two messages directly contradict each other. If Wayne commits himself to an ideal, he'll become an unstoppable legend, and the entire concept of Batman demands that the legend cannot end. What better way to prove that point than to break Wayne, remove the man and yet have the legend continue?
Gordon-Levitt's inclusion in the cast essentially requires Blake to play a major role, more than any official description would allow him. Bet on Blake being a big part of the film, but what the role may entail will only be answered in July.

We were hoping this wasn't really happening...but it is. A cast of approximately 5 people is now shooting a brand new reality show based on folks "making it happen" in ATL. And Memphitz is likely at the helm.
And seeing that stripper Maliah Michel, a few other booty models, and singer/rapper wanna-bes are all involved, we're going with the usual sow premise of "We're showing you why partying and flaunting our enlarged asses is such hard work." Deets inside...
Despite the fact she still lives in Houston, stripper/multi-rapper arm piece Maliah Michel is starring in an upcoming reality show with the working title of "Mistresses of Atlanta".
Based on the numerous tweets from cast members, photographers, makeup artists, and clothing designers outfitting them for the show, today is Day 3 of shooting. And the above shot is from today's promo photoshoot.
Reportedly, the cast consists of one guy who goes by the twitter name of SoleHeir (above), Maliah, Model/stripper Rosee Divine, model Sarah Oliver, rapper M’Jae and singer Strings. Whoever these people are.
We've also learned that Toya's husband Memphitz is involved with the project in some way--likely producing it via his production company Do Work Ent.--as he's constantly pubbing the cast members and their promo photoshoots.
Makeup artist Latasha Wright tweeted a pic with M'Jae saying:
So I'm on set taping the Mistresses of Atlanta ooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!
Mistresses of Atlanta these ladies r TURNED UP! @MeMpHiTz Do Work\Rebel Star the night is just beginning!
@iammaliahmichel rocked The Wright Look on this set! she killed this shoot I must @MeMpHiTz knows how to pickem!
And cast member M'Jae tweeted a recent pic with Toya and daughter Reginae on a set:
Maliah has been linked to Drake, Sean Kingston, and others and is well known for her pole skills at a strip club in Houston, as well as traveling around the country for parties and guest appearances at strip clubs. She partied with the cast recently (cast shot and above pic) and at Luxe Lounge in DC last weekend:
Rosee is raising a ruckus around the net for her seemingly fake assets:
Ummm....
And the rest of the cast:
M'Jae
SoleHeir
Stringz
Sarah Oliver
And more pics from today's set and recent party:
I see 2012 will continue the the stripper/booty model/mistress on a pedastal trend. Yes indeed....

<P>Fox's song-and-dance series "Glee" is no stranger to a star-studded cameo or two, with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, John Stamos and Kristin Chenoweth all walking the halls of McKinley High during the past two and a half seasons. And as the show returns from a month-long hiatus, Gleeks aren't the only ones anticipating a few more famous faces. As star Chris Colfer told MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet, there's plenty to look forward to when New Directions warble again January 17. "Well, the Michael Jackson episode ...," Colfer answered when asked about his most-anticipated upcoming episodes. "We have a Spanish episode coming up with Ricky Martin. We have a Valentine's Day episode coming up, so that's going to be fun." <CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:725517/cp~name%3Dnews%26id%3D1677338%26vid%3D725517%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A725517" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER> Martin is slated to play "the hottest Spanish teacher ever in the history of Ohio," according to <a href="http://www.tvline.com/2011/11/glee-ricky-martin-season-3/" target="_blank">TVLine</a>. The actor/singer recently <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ricky_martin/status/155141894333140993" target="_blank">tweeted</a> a joyful picture from his first day on set. As to how the King of Pop's prolific songbook will manifest itself in the January 31 tribute episode, Colfer explained, "Well, I sing part of 'Black [or] White.' I'm the 'White' in 'Black [or] White,' and I sing 'Ben,' that famous song he wrote for the rat." The rodent in question is the pet of a young boy named Danny in the 1972 film "Ben." Jackson sang a version of the theme song that appeared in the movie's closing credits and was later included on his 1972 album also named <em>Ben</em>. The track "Black or White" was the first single off of Jackson's 1991 album <em>Dangerous</em>. <big><b>Stick with MTV News all night for the 2012 Golden Globes winners, and don't miss all the fashion from the <a href="http://style.mtv.com/2012/01/15/golden-globes-red-carpet/">Golden Globes red carpet</a>!</b></big></p>

Guns N' Roses, Donovan and the Faces will also be inducted in April.
By Gil Kaufman
<P>More than a quarter century after they brought hard rock back to the top of the heap, the original lineup of legendary Los Angeles band <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/guns_n_roses/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Guns N' Roses</a> will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. Guns were among the acts named on Wednesday as the Class of 2012, which includes fellow L.A. rockers the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/red_hot_chili_peppers/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Red Hot Chili Peppers</a>, iconic New York rap trio the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/beastie_boys_featuring_santigold/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Beastie Boys</a>, 1960s pop singer Laura Nyro, the Small Faces (and their later Rod Stewart-led incarnation, the Faces), as well as mellow 1960s singer Donovan. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:687602" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Also on the roster for the induction ceremony, which will take place on April 14 in Cleveland and air on HBO in early May, is early influence blues guitarist Freddie King and nonperformer Don Kirshner, who created the Archies and Monkees and hosted the long-running live-music TV show "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert." Among those <a href="/news/articles/1671580/guns-n-roses-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame.jhtml">passed over</a>
this year were the Cure, Joan Jett, Heart and hip-hip duo Eric B. & Rakim. Acts become eligible for the Hall 25 years after the release of their first single or album, so this year's crop all started releasing music in or before the year 1986. Led by the mercurial lead singer Axl Rose, GN'R re-invented hard rock with 1987's <I>Appetite for Destruction</I>, which featured such indelible glam-punk hits as "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City," "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "It's So Easy." The band splintered a decade later amid a clash of egos, disagreement over musical direction and drug issues that resulted in Rose soldiering on alone with a parade of replacement sidemen. Before their induction was announced, buzz had already begun to build around a potential reunion between legendarily unfriendly co-founders Rose and guitarist Slash as well as the rest of the classic lineup, which included rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler. Rose is currently on the road with the new Guns. The Beastie Boys have been mixing rock, rap, soul, punk and funk for more than 30 years, helping to cross hip-hip over into the mainstream in a major way with their bratty 1986 full-length debut, <I>License to Ill</I>, rap's first #1 album. After providing drunken anthems for a generation thanks to "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to) Party," and "Brass Monkey," they followed up with 1989's head-tripping <I>Paul's Boutique</I>, which set a new standard for artistry in sampling. They've continued to rock the mic over the course of five more studio albums, including this year's <I>Hot Sauce Committee Part Two</I>. Funk-punk lifers the Red Hot Chili Peppers formed in Los Angeles in 1983 and released their self-titled debut the next year. Formed around the core of hyperkinetic singer Anthony Kiedis, high-energy bassist Flea, late guitarist Hillel Slovak and former drummer Jack Irons, the band made a name for itself with a spastic combo of funk, punk, hard rock and hip-hop, graduating from an underground fanbase to worldwide stardom and Grammy-winning albums thanks to such landmark tracks as "Give It Away," "Under the Bridge" and "Scar Tissue." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="id:1669172" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Like the Who, English mod rockers the Small Faces were heavily influenced by American R&B, which they explored on signature songs "Itchycoo Park," "Lazy Sunday" and "All or Nothing." In their second phase as the Faces, members included future Rolling Stones rhythm guitarist Ronnie Wood and singer Rod Stewart. Late singer/songwriter Laura Nyro was just 19 when she recorded her debut in 1966, the same year folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary recorded her song "And When I Die." The fragile singer with an eclectic style wrote a string of songs that became hits for other acts, including "Stoned Soul Picnic," "Sweet Blindness," "Wedding Bell Blues" and "Blowin' Away." She also scored her own hit with Carole King's "Up on the Roof." Psychedelic folkie Donovan Leitch scored a number of hits in the 1960s, including "Sunshine Superman," "Mellow Yellow" and "Hurdy Gurdy Man." Dissension has become one of the reliable side stories of the Rock Hall ceremonies. While such notoriously splintered acts as Led Zeppelin and the Talking Heads managed to set aside differences for one night (Blondie, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Van Halen not so much), the biggest question this year is whether Rose will make nice with his estranged former bandmates. There are also question marks over whether the Beastie Boys will perform, as the group have eschewed public appearances since the July 2009 revelation that member Adam "MCA" Yauch was undergoing treatment for <a href="/news/articles/1617648/beasties-mca-updates-fans-on-cancer-treatment.jhtml">cancer</a>
of the salivary gland in the throat.</p>

In her first public sighting since announcing split with husband Seal, Heidi Klum looked every bit the model mom as she took her four kids - Leni, 7, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2 - to karate and dance class in Brentwood, Calif. on Saturday (January 28).
The paparazzi were lined up to get shots of the newly single mom-of-four as she took her kids to their Saturday morning extracurricular activities. It was great to see the girls smiling and the kids back to their regular routine. And we couldn't help but notice that Heidi is still wearing her wedding ring.

From teen comedy 'The First Time' to horror flick 'V/H/S,' MTV News wraps up the most talked-about premieres.

For those of us not lucky enough to be in Park City, Utah, right now, the biggest stories coming out of the Sundance Film Festival detail the standing ovations and the distribution deals that filmmakers sign for millions of dollars.
With so many films making their premieres at Sundance, it can be difficult to keep track of which ones you need to be paying attention to and looking out for later this year. To help you out, we've rounded up the five films that are coming out of Park City with the biggest buzz.
Here is our list of the five most talked-about Sundance films.
"The Surrogate"
With Oscar nominations being announced Tuesday, looking forward to the 2013 Oscar nominees may seem a little premature. That hasn't stopped festival attendees from heralding the performances from John Hawkes, Helen Hunt and William H. Macy and predicting Academy Award nominations come next January. In the film, Hawkes plays Mark, a man in an iron lung. Mark decides that he must finally lose his virginity and contacts a sex surrogate played by Hunt. "The Surrogate" earned standing ovations and some of the earliest Oscars talk we've ever heard.
"Beasts of the Southern Wild"
One of the outright surprises of the festival came in the form of 6-year old Quvenzhané Wallis and her breakout role in Benh Zeitlin's "Beasts of the Southern Wild." The film virtually came out of nowhere and won over audiences handedly. Set in some alternate but fairly relatable reality, Wallis plays Hushpuppy, who has to navigate a brave new world after her father becomes ill. Arguably the festival's most coveted distributor, Fox Searchlight, snapped up the distribution rights for "Beasts" after paying $6 million for "The Surrogate."
"V/H/S"
What better praise can a horror film get than an audience member fainting during a screening? The horror anthology "V/H/S" supposedly had that exact effect on one unlucky audience member. Six of horror's hottest up-and-coming directors contributed segments to this found-footage film, which follows a group of burglars breaking into a mysterious house to search for a specific VHS tape. The movie scared audiences throughout the festival and is considered a must-see for horror fans.
"The First Time"
Once you find out that a movie called "The First Time" follows a blossoming romance between two teenagers, you'd probably assume you know what's going on. Most of the reviews for the film acknowledge their expectations going into the teen comedy from writer-director Jon Kasdan, but many of those reviews then describe how "The First Time" surprised them with its infectious charm. Set over the course of one weekend, "The First Time" stars Britt Robertson of "The Secret Circle" and Dylan O'Brien of MTV's "Teen Wolf" as high school kids who meet but are tied up in other relationships.
"Celeste and Jesse Forever"
Rashida Jones has charmed audiences in movies and television for years but always remained just outside the realm of leading lady. Perhaps deciding to make the change herself, Jones co-wrote and starred in "Celeste and Jesse Forever," an indie romance with Andy Samberg. The two play a recently divorced couple attempting to remain friends after the breakup. Critics applauded the film's script, which strikes a balance between comedy and poignant romantic drama.
Which of these five films are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!
